NARA announces plans for a State of Amateur Radio survey

We are preparing the most comprehensive survey of how amateur radio operators actually operate — and how they see the hobby — released in stages over the coming year.

NARA is preparing to launch the most comprehensive survey on the state of amateur radio.

This project will take several weeks or months to refine, and the survey itself will run for an extended period — potentially for the rest of the year. We will break it into smaller surveys that together will ultimately provide a detailed look at how amateur radio operators operate and perceive the hobby.

As we look for organizations to partner with, this may be a year or more in the making. Nobody has a genuinely current picture of who is on the air, what they are running, what they have stopped doing and why. Decisions about the future of the hobby — ours, and those of the regulators and manufacturers — are better made with data than with anecdote.

If your club, organization or business would like to partner with us on the survey, write to cq@usnara.org.
