Ways of giving
Two sets of milestones, one meter each: what you give in a year, and everything you have ever given.
Every gift to NARA counts toward both sets of milestones, whatever fund you send it to. Give once, give monthly, give to the fund that matters to you — it all adds up the same way.
Members see their own two needles in the member portal, along with what the next milestone takes.
The Beacon Club
A beacon transmits all year without being asked, which is what we are thanking. The milestones are signal reports, so an operator reads the meter without a legend, and they reset every 1 January. Membership dues count toward no milestone: dues buy a membership, and these are for what you give.
- S9 +30 — $5,000 or more in the year.
- S9 +20 — $2,500 or more in the year.
- S9 +10 — $1,000 or more in the year.
- S9 — $500 or more in the year.
- S7 — $250 or more in the year.
- S5 — $100 or more in the year.
Give monthly and you join as soon as twelve months of gifts cross the first milestone. A monthly gift is worth more to us than the same money once a year, and we would rather say so.
Founders Society
Everything you have ever given to NARA, to any fund, added up and never reset. Every dollar on it was a gift rather than a purchase. Lifetime giving is recognized from $2,500.
- Visionary — $250,000 or more, lifetime.
- Legacy — $100,000 or more, lifetime.
- Cornerstone — $50,000 or more, lifetime.
- Benefactor — $25,000 or more, lifetime.
- Patron — $10,000 or more, lifetime.
- Partner — $5,000 or more, lifetime.
- Pioneer — $2,500 or more, lifetime.
Donors who reach Pioneer may ask to be thanked by name on our public page. Nobody is listed without asking, and we never publish amounts.
What a donor gets
- A receipt for every gift — emailed when the payment clears, from whichever fund you gave to.
- Both needles in your portal — the year so far and your lifetime total, with the next milestone and what is left to reach it.
- A star on your giving page — once your lifetime giving reaches Pioneer.
- Your name in public, if you ask — on the Founders Society page, never without asking, and never with an amount beside it.
- A certificate and a donor card — made out at the milestone you read, to print or keep on your phone.
- A year-end statement — every gift of one calendar year itemized on one sheet, with our charity ID on it, to download as a PDF for your return.
- Recognition at the National Convention — our annual meeting of the members.
We would rather add to this list than promise ahead of it: there is no QSL bureau, magazine or convention pass behind any of these milestones.
