Auto-renewal is a convenient way to keep a NARA membership or a monthly gift running without having to remember it. It is entirely optional, and nothing renews automatically unless you choose it.
What you are authorizing
By opting in to auto-renewal you authorize the National Amateur Radio Alliance, on an automated basis, to:
- Renew the membership you have selected for a further term of the same length, at the dues rate in force when it renews.
- Charge those dues to the payment method you have saved with our membership provider.
Auto-renewal continues until you cancel it. Two-year and five-year memberships and lifetime memberships are billed once and are never renewed automatically.
When you are charged
Membership dues are charged on your renewal date — the day your current term ends — and the new term begins the same day. A card that is declined is retried; if it cannot be collected your membership moves to inactive status in the usual way, and voting rights and member benefits are suspended until dues are brought current.
If the dues rate for your category changes, the new rate applies from your next renewal date, and we tell you the amount in the notice below before it is charged.
Notice before each charge
We email you at least 14 days before each automatic charge, telling you what will be charged, when, and for what. Notices go to the primary email address on your membership record, so please keep it current in your details. You remain responsible for cancelling in time whether or not you receive a notice, so check your junk mail folder if you are not seeing ours.
Changing or cancelling
You may turn auto-renewal off at any time, and you may switch it back on at any time. To stop a charge, cancel it at least three days before your renewal date; after that the payment is already in hand and we will refund it instead if you ask us within 30 days.

Cancelling auto-renewal does not cancel the membership you have already paid for: it runs to the end of the term you are in, and you can renew by hand at any time from the renew page.
Monthly gifts
A monthly gift set up at our donate page is a recurring payment held by PayPal, not a membership. PayPal charges it on the same day each month and emails you a receipt each time. You can change or stop it at any time in your PayPal account, or email cq@usnara.org and we will stop it for you. Donations are not refundable once made, though we will always look at a charge you did not intend.
Your payment details
NARA never sees or stores your full card number. Saved payment methods are held by our membership provider and by PayPal, and are used only for the renewals you have authorized. See our privacy policy for how we handle the rest of your information.
Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms; the version in force is the one published here on your renewal date, and material changes are set out in the notice we email you before that charge. These terms sit alongside our terms of service and are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee.
