Spot a contact, see who else is on the air

A spotting page of our own: post the station you are working, read what everyone else is hearing, and filter it down to the band or mode you care about.

There is now a spotting page on usnara.org. Post the station you are working — callsign, frequency, mode, a note if you like — and it appears for everybody else reading the page, newest first.

See what is on the air.

It is deliberately plain. You do not need a cluster account, a telnet client, or any software at all: the page works on a phone from the picnic table you are operating from. Filter by band or mode when the list gets busy, and hide your own spot again if you posted it by mistake.

Why we built it

Two reasons. The first is that a new operator has no idea what is happening on the bands until somebody shows them, and a page of live contacts is the clearest possible answer to "is anybody even out there?". The second is that a club activation, a special event station or a park operation is worth telling people about while it is happening, not in next month's newsletter.

Members can post from the portal as well, at Spotting, and a spot you post there carries your callsign from your own record.
