The National Amateur Radio Alliance is proud to introduce a new initiative: the Alfred Vail 20-20 Young Keyers Award, established to recognize and celebrate youth who demonstrate exceptional proficiency in Morse code. These individuals represent the future of amateur radio, and we believe it is important to acknowledge their accomplishments and encourage their continued growth.
The name "20-20" signifies two key criteria: recipients must be under the age of 20 and must have achieved a Morse code operating speed of 20 words per minute or higher.
Named in tribute to Alfred Vail, a key contributor to the development of Morse code, this award not only highlights technical achievement but also honors the dedication, discipline, and passion required to master one of the most historic and enduring modes of communication in ham radio.
