Samuel F. B. Morse was born on 27 April 1791.
Samuel Finley Breese Morse, born in Charlestown, Massachusetts on 27 April 1791, was a painter before he turned to the telegraph. With Alfred Vail he built the system and the code that carried the first public message in 1844, and Morse code is still sent on the amateur bands every day.
