The Weather Service thanks its amateur storm spotters on the air.
SKYWARN Recognition Day is the National Weather Service's thank you to the amateur radio operators who report severe weather as it happens. Forecast offices open their club stations for 24 hours and work amateurs everywhere. It is a good day for a spotter to make contact with the office they report to.
