Field Day in the cold: emergency practice when conditions are hardest.
Winter Field Day exists because emergencies do not wait for good weather. Clubs and individuals set up away from home in January and operate for 24 hours, learning what cold, snow and short daylight do to antennas, batteries and people. It is smaller and friendlier than the June event.
