Every part of NARA is someone’s spare evening
The National Amateur Radio Alliance is a membership organization powered entirely by volunteers. Our strength comes from the dedication of people who choose to give their time, skills and energy to support amateur radio.
Every contribution matters — whether you take on a leadership role, help organize local events, assist with national programs, or lend your expertise behind the scenes. It is also a chance to meet like-minded operators, pick up new skills and make a real difference to a community that spans the country.
What signing up means
- You tell us what you enjoy and how much time you have.
- A coordinator emails you to talk it through — no commitment yet.
- You start small. Most roles are a couple of hours a month.
- You can step back or change roles whenever life gets busy.
Where we need help

Web design
Help keep usnara.org fresh, functional and user-friendly — page design, content updates and accessibility.
Award management
Create, organize and promote NARA awards, and help judge and recognize the operators who earn them.
Event planning
Coordinate outreach events, workshops, hamfest presence and on-air activities such as Club Week.
Member support
Answer questions, welcome and onboard new members, and keep the community connected.
Public relations & promotions
Share our mission and grow awareness through media outreach, partnerships, social media, email campaigns and storytelling.
Beta testers
Try new tools, surveys and resources before they launch, and tell us what needs to improve.
State or regional representative
Be NARA’s point of contact for the clubs and operators in your part of the country.
Presenter
Join the National Presenters Panel and speak to clubs in person or over video on a topic you know well.
Wiki editor
Write and maintain the reference material other operators lean on, from antennas to exam prep.
Youth and school outreach
Run demonstrations, licensing classes and school club support so the next generation gets on the air.
